Impact Crater

Arizona Winslow Meteor Crater

This is world’s best preserved meteorite impact site in Arizona near Winslow. Meteor Crater is the breath-taking result of a collision between a piece of an asteroid traveling at 26K mph and Earth approximately 50 thousand years ago. It is also known as Barringer Crater after Daniel Barringer, who bought it to mine for iron and nickel, unaware of the fact that all minerals carried by the asteroid would have vapourized with the impact. The Barringers may have lost money minig for minerals but they are recovering it with the admission fee to visit the site.
