Blue Well

Great Blue Hole Belize

Great Blue Hole is 318m-diameter sinkhole in Belize. The sinkhole takes the shape of hourglass as one goes deep. The depth was measured to be about 125m in 1997 and is decreasing as sediments are trapped into the hole. The near perfect round opening is surronded by coral reef and is popular among scuba divers. The formation of the blue hole seems to be nature's best kept secret due to a thick formation of sediments at the base.
